FREE · NO SIGNUP · NAMES STAY ON YOUR DEVICE
One name at a time.
Everyone gets a turn.
Pick a starting player or build a turn order, without picking the same person twice in a round.
1. Add your names
Up to 200 people · 60 characters per name. For people with the same name, add an initial or nickname. Blank lines are ignored.
2. Choose your teams
Team sizes differ by at most one person. This is a simple random shuffle; it does not balance skills or track previous teams.
2. Pick your next person
No repeats within a round. A new round clears the picked order and makes everyone eligible again.
Names and results stay in this open page. Switching modes keeps your list. Editing names resets both results. Reloading or leaving clears your work.
Your result
Use your browser’s Print / Save as PDF dialog. Match the paper size above, turn off headers and footers, and check the preview. Paper changes keep your results.
A SIMPLE HOST’S GUIDE
Set the picking rules before you start
Prepare one clear list
Ask the host or teacher to check who is taking part. Use a familiar first name or nickname, distinguish people with the same name, and avoid adding private details. Try the fictional example before entering your own list.
Choose who is eligible
For a turn order, pick until every name has appeared. The picked list records the order; people remaining are not included in the export. Decide the rules first, and start a new round only when you intend to make everyone eligible again.
Keep the result ready
Download the text list or print it with the browser’s PDF option. Check names and page breaks in the print preview. For a group bingo activity, make icebreaker bingo cards and decide who will explain the rules. The same-page buttons above switch tools while keeping your list and results.
British Council guidance describes random, student-chosen and teacher-chosen grouping as different options. It informs this preparation guide; these tools and suggestions have not yet been observed with a live group. Read the grouping guidance.
Before you start
Are names uploaded or saved?
Our group-tool code keeps names and results only in this page’s memory. It does not send them to hosting, advertising or analytics, or put them in a URL or browser storage. Optional analytics records page visits. Saved files and printed copies contain the names you export; manage those copies on your device. See Privacy.
What happens with duplicate or blank names?
Blank lines are ignored. Repeated names, including differences only in capitalization or extra spaces, ask you to add an initial or nickname. No person is silently removed. Invalid or over-limit lists remain in the editor so you can fix them.
How random is it?
The tool uses a one-pass Fisher–Yates shuffle with the browser’s Math.random. The same teams may appear again. It is for casual games and preparation; it does not provide certified draws, skill balancing or a record of earlier sessions.
Can I print names in other languages?
Printable Unicode names are accepted. The web page and browser print use fonts available on your device, so check the preview for missing characters. Tabs and hidden formatting are rejected. Use one name per line.
Can I use this for free?
Yes. Create teams, pick names, download text and print without signing up or providing an email. Ads support the site.
